The Wellness Center
The philosophy of Mercy Regional Medical Center's Wellness Center is that true wellness is a lifestyle, and therefore much more than just the absence of illness or injury. The Wellness Center staff focuses on helping patients of all ages improve their quality of life by changing their lifestyles to prevent the onset or recurrence of chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes.
Wellness Center patients, who must be referred to the Wellness Center by a physician, are often in rehabilitation programs that aid in recovery or disease prevention. The Wellness Center offers cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, life fitness, and medical nutrition therapy programs to both inpatients and outpatients. Mercy Regional Medical Center is the only hospital in the Four Corners region with a wellness program that offers diabetes education.
The Wellness Center's staff is comprised of registered nurses, registered respiratory therapists, exercise physiologists, registered dieticians, diabetes educators, and a physician medical director, all of whom have special training in chronic disease management and prevention.
