Public Relations / Marketing OfficerDavid Bruzzese For Immediate Release Mercy receives ‘Excellence through Insight’ award DURANGO, Colo.— Mercy Regional Medical Center was recently recognized with an Excellence through Insight award for Highest Community Perception of Quality by HealthStream Research™ (formerly The Jackson Organization). Mercy was a winner in the rural hospital category because of its percentile rank and mean score, compared to other rural hospitals, in consumer perceptions of hospital quality. Mercy’s understanding of the relationship between the hospital, patients, and consumers is aided by measuring consumer perceptions of quality. Areas measured in consumer surveys by hospitals include top-of-mind awareness, perception of quality (image), hospital preference, hospital use, and customer loyalty. Hospitals that score high in these areas exhibit stronger levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty. "We work very hard to provide exceptional care at Mercy. A focus on quality is a priority in all areas of the hospital, and we’re glad that the communities we serve are aware of that focus and recognize the results of our efforts," said Kirk Dignum, Mercy’s president and CEO. Mercy Regional Medical Center, a not-for-profit, acute-care hospital, relocated to a new facility the Three Springs / Grandview area of Durango in June 2006. The 212,000-square-foot, $82 million hospital features 82 private patient rooms, five operating suites, state-of-the-art technology, and amenities such as a healing garden. Attached to the hospital is a 153,000-square-foot medical office building that houses 21 provider practices, an outpatient surgery center, and hospital administrative offices. Mercy Regional Medical Center is a member of the not-for-profit, Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives health system, which includes 72 hospitals; 42 long-term care, assisted and independent living and residential facilities; and two community-based health organizations located in 19 states. # # # |
