Mercy physician recognized for outstanding clinical achievement
DURANGO, Colo.— Mark Saddler, M.D., nephrologist at Durango Nephrology Associates, was recognized for outstanding clinical achievement in the areas of dialysis, anemia management, nutrition, and vascular access outcomes.

“While it is common for facilities to excel in one or two areas of clinical performance, it is much more difficult to reach the high standards that the medical review board of the Intermountain End-State Renal Disease (ESRD) Network has set as benchmarks for facilities within this network,” said Karen Strott, director of quality improvement, Intermountain ESRD Network. “We join the medical review board in saluting Dr. Saddler’s excellent performance, and send our appreciation and respect for the diligence and consistent commitment he brings to his patients’ care.”

Analysis of lab results from the 2006 lab data collection shows that Durango Nephrology Associates was one of only 28 facilities in the Intermountain ESRD Network to achieve three of the four clinical goals set by the medical review board.

Durango Nephrology Associates is a medical clinic owned and operated by Mercy Regional Medical Center. The clinic's providers are Dr. Saddler; Elizabeth Helms, M.D.; and physician's assistant Erin Hamlin.

The Intermountain ESRD Network (Network #15) is a federally mandated, nonprofit Colorado corporation that contracts with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to implement the ESRD Network program in its six-state area, which includes Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. ESRD Network #15 is a consortium of approximately 250 dialysis and 14 transplant facilities that serves a population of approximately 15,000 dialysis patients and over 850 transplant patients each year.
