Trauma Services

Mercy Regional Medical Center is a designated Level III Trauma Center and is one of only two trauma centers in Southwestern Colorado. Our goal is to provide quality trauma-related services to patients, families, referring physicians, and other members of the health care team.

As a trauma center, we have a dedicated team of health care professionals including board-certified surgeons and emergency physicians available 24 hours a day to evaluate and treat trauma patients. Because of the skill and dedication of this team, most people survive their injuries and may return to active, productive lives.

Trauma patients may be transported to or from Mercy Regional Medical Center via Tri-State CareFlight’s helicopter air ambulance, which is based on the hospital’s helipad.  Tri-State CareFlight also operates a fixed-wing air ambulance which is based at the Durango – La Plata Airport.
