		Medical Laboratory The goal of Mercy Regional Medical Center’s Laboratory is to improve patient care in the Four Corners region by providing timely, accurate, and cost-effective testing services for patients and healthcare providers. Our staff is committed to meeting the complex needs and high standards of the region's healthcare providers as well as the individual patients. Services The Laboratory performs more than 300,000 procedures per year, providing a full-range of laboratory testing services, including: Anatomical pathology Chemistry Coagulation Hematology Hematopathology Microbiology Oncologic pathology Transfusion services Urinalysis The extensive range of tests performed in-house at Mercy Medical Center Laboratory guarantees specimen integrity, stat testing abilities, and turnaround times that are unmatched by any other laboratory service available in the area. Mercy’s Laboratory also provides specialty testing capabilities through its affiliation with ARUP Laboratories, one of the leading reference laboratories in the country. We understand that our clients' individual needs vary and we will customize our services as needed. Direct Access “Patient-ordered” Testing Mercy Regional Medical Center continually strives to develop ways of meeting the needs of our healthcare providers and their patients. In an attempt to provide affordable, convenient, and confidential laboratory testing, Mercy Regional Medical Center’s Laboratory now offers a Direct Access Testing program, with more than twenty five tests that can ordered either directly by the patient or by their healthcare provider. Direct Access patients should go to our laboratory facilities in Durango or Pagosa Springs for specimen collection. Payment for service is due at the time of specimen collection. The more than 20 medical technologists have a combined 300+ years of laboratory experience. Mercy’s locally based pathologists are fellowship trained and board certified in anatomic, clinical, and cytopathology. They also have additional training and extensive experience in gynecologic pathology and hematopathology. Through their affiliation with Ameripath, they have direct access to additional subspecialists in genitourinary pathology, esoteric surgical pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, dermatopathology and molecular science. Accredited Testing Services Mercy Medical Center’s Laboratory is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO), fully complies with the Cliniical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and all state and federal standards.
