License/Certification: Current license as registered professional nurse in Colorado, CNOR highly desirable

Job Requirements (Core Competencies)

 

Education: RN: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with an ADN, Diploma, BSN or MSN

Experience: RN:  Minimum of Six months nursing experience in an acute care setting and/or a med/surg setting. Experience preferred in application of diagnostic stress testing including; Nuclear Med, Stress Echo, Pharmacological and Tilt Table Tests. EKG’s of different types and all ages.

License/Certification: Current Colorado Registered Nurse Licensure, current BLS required, ACLS within 6 months of hire. ACSM desired.

Other required skills and abilities: Nursing process (assessment, planning care, and intervention and evaluation skills) as applied to the care of appropriate patient populations.  Pathophysiology and psychosocial aspects of cardiopulmonary disease and other chronic diseases.   Basic 12 Lead EKG and arrhythmia interpretation, with  expectation of advancing to intermediate arrhythmia interpretation. Intermediate to advanced computer skills for the various  medical equipment and programs.



Staff RN - Durango Nephrology Associates - PRN

Education:  Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience:  1-2 years Medical-Surgical nursing.  Previous medical clinic and/or Nephrology patient care preferred.

Staff RN - Diabetic Educator - PD
PD - Day shift

Job Requirements (Core Competencies)

Education: Minimum is a B.S. degree in Nursing or  Dietetics or related field; CDE preferred.

Licensure/Cert:  Current Colorado or multi-state compact RN license OR Registered Dietitian (RD) status with Commission on Dietetic Registration.  Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) preferred or pursuing CDE within a reasonable amount of time as set forth by the coordinator; BLS certification required; can obtain after hire. 

Experience:  Minimum two years experience in nursing or as RD with emphasis on diabetes management.

Other Required Skills and Abilities: Has an understanding of the relationship between lifestyle choices the disease process. Strong teaching ability.  Able to describe the process of assessment, planning care, intervention skills and evaluation as applied to the appropriate care of diabetes patients. Has an understanding of the pathophysiology and psychosocial aspects of the disease, complications and therapeutic interventions for management which includes DM T1, T2, Gestational diabetes, hypoglycemia, impaired glucose tolerance and heart disease as it relates to diabetes.  Teaching skills are to include appropriate methods for the pediatric and adult populations. Demonstrates intermediate computer skills and has MediTech skills; ability to use electronic charting for patient documentation.  Use of the following equipment is required:  HbA1C testing and a variety of insulin pumps and glucometers. Maintains current information on latest diabetic medications (oral and insulin).  Experience with Community Wellness Programs and the ability to coordinate, plan and teach education programs for patients and community organizations.




Clinical

Physical Therapist - PRN

Job Requirements: (Core Competencies)

Education:  Bachelors of Science; certificate or Masters degree of physical therapy

Experience:

License/Certification Current Colorado License or temporary Colorado license

Other required skills and abilities: Good body mechanics, the ability to demonstrate proficiency in physical therapy by performing all job specific accountabilities on a daily basis.  Therapist should demonstrate desire to increase and share knowledge base and professional scope.  Excellent verbal and non verbal communication skills

Physical Abilities: The ability to work long hours with an increased amount of bending, lifting, stooping, pushing, and  pulling of heavy objects.  Also extensive computer usage.  Good hearing and vision are a must.

 



Nurse Practitioner - Health Services Clinic - FT
FT - Day shift NP/PA for the Health Services Clinic

Job Requirements (Core Competencies)

Education:   Nurse Practitioner (Masters degree in Nursing, satisfactory training and experience to meet the MMC credentialing and privileging requirements)

Experience:  Formal training in area of specialization, experience in area of practice is also desirable or required dependent on individual and sponsoring physician. 

License/Certification: NP (Registered Nurse State of Colorado and Certified Nurse Practitioner in State of Colorado, DEA licensure and Prescriptive Authority, ACLS Certification preferred, National Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification.

Other required skills and abilities: Requires the knowledge and ability to perform appropriate history and physical exam, order and interpret diagnostic studies, make appropriate treatment plans including ordering medications, prescriptions, and other appropriate clinical interventions.  Ability to work closely with physicians and clinic personnel.  Consults with appropriate physician regarding referrals or need for higher level evaluation. 

Nurse Practitioner Inpatient Clinical Privileges: Clinical privileges granted by the Medical Staff will be updated and renewed every 2 years.  Such clinical privileges imply competence to perform specific functions independently. The practitioner’s physician sponsor supervises the exercise of clinical privileges granted by the Medical Staff.

 

Guidelines for Physician/Nurse Practitioner Integrated Practices: Health care services delivered will be within the scope of each practitioner. The role of the Nurse Practitioner in the delivery of care should be defined through mutually agreed upon practice protocols, job descriptions and written contracts.  One physician of the practice should be available for consultation when needed.  The sponsoring physician is responsible for ensuring the quality of care for all patients by maintaining ongoing communication with the practitioner reviewing documentation and care by the practitioner and provider opportunities for education and upgrade of skills.



Speech Pathologist - PRN

PRN - As needed, varied shifts
Education: Master's Degree in speech/language  pathology.  Completion of a supervised clinical fellowship year, and passed the national test for holding a certificate of clinical competency to practice.

 Experience: Minimum of two years experience as speech/language pathologist in a hospital setting.

License/Certification: certificate of clinical competency.

Other required skills and abilities: orientation to hospital plant, administrative, record keeping and billing procedures specific to mercy hospital compliance with JCAHO functional standards.
